چکیده

Refined palm oil products may contain a harmful substance called as 3-monochloropropane-1,2-diol (3-MCPD), which can potentially be carcinogenic if consumed in excess. The determination of 3-MCPD depends on the sophisticated machine and highly skilled technicians but it is time-consuming. A simple method that proposes rapid detection remains challenge. Hence, this research aims to develop colorimetric-based sensor using gold nanoparticles functionalized with ligand, glutathione (GSH) bound 3-MCPD. Varied concentrations GSH were evaluated obtain stable GSH-AuNPs. characterization results showed composition GSH-AuNPs has been achieved by 250 µL 0.02 M addition. was ruby red surface plasmon resonance (SPR) band at 520 nm an average nanoparticle size 30 nm. indication for marked decrease absorbance intensity. Thus, have potential developed application.

Magnetic and gold-coated magnetic nanoparticles as a DNA sensor.

In this study, we report the chemical synthesis and functionalization of magnetic and gold-coated magnetic nanoparticles and the immobilization of single-stranded biotinylated oligonucleotides onto these particles. Selected sequences specific to the BRCA1 gene were used as a test platform. The binding of oligonucleotides to these particles was achieved through a streptavidin-biotin bridge via a...

Gold nanoparticles as a colorimetric sensor for protein conformational changes.

Spherical gold nanoparticles and flat gold films are prepared in which yeast iso-1-cytochrome c (Cyt c) is covalently bound to the gold surface by a thiol group in the cystein 102 residue. Upon exposure to solutions of different pH, bound Cyt c unfolds at low pH and refolds at high pH. This conformational change causes measurable shifts in the color of the coated nanoparticle solutions detected...
